California car accidents: Woman killed by car while sleeping

As everyone knows, a person can be involved in a tragic event at any moment as daily life is unfolding. In fact, car accidents can sometimes involve people who are not even in a vehicle at the time. In a recent example, a California woman is dead after a car slammed into her apartment building while she and her young daughter were sleeping.

The tragedy happened early on a recent Wednesday morning in South Los Angeles. Reportedly, the 45-year-old mother of four and her 4-year-old daughter were sleeping in the same bed when a car crashed into their apartment wall, and then the bed. The car caught fire during the incident, although the fire was quickly put out. The woman died in the crash, and the girl was taken to the hospital where she is in stable condition and is expected to recover.

The driver of the car and a passenger, both in their 50s, were also taken to a hospital with minor injuries. Police are interviewing them as part of the ongoing investigation. According to a witness, the driver seemed to have lost control of the car just before the crash, and authorities are considering whether speed was a factor.

Unfortunately, people can only do so much to prevent themselves from becoming victims in an accident, as evidenced by this incident. Car accidents such as this one seem particularly tragic, since the victims could not have done anything to prevent it; they were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. If the investigation concludes that the driver of the car caused the crash, and it seems this will likely be the case, the victim's grieving family may consider pursuing a wrongful death lawsuit in California civil court. A personal injury attorney could review the case details and advise them of their legal options.
