California car accidents may result in multiple fatalities

Unfortunately, some people do not seem to heed the continual warnings in recent years about the dangers of driving while under the influence of drugs or alcohol. These people will still get behind the wheel of a car no matter what they have been doing immediately prior. Sometimes, auto accidents, whether in California or elsewhere, are caused by such reckless behavior, and sometimes these accidents result in fatalities. Sadly, this was the case when a two-vehicle collision caused four deaths.

The crash happened in Santa Ana early on a recent morning when a westbound car collided with a southbound pickup truck. Both vehicles flipped several times, resulting in a fire. An off-duty firefighter and nurse stopped to help the people involved. The nurse tended to the single occupant of the car, but, unfortunately, responders pronounced all four occupants of the truck dead at the scene.

According to authorities, the car driver, a 28-year-old man, was treated at a local hospital as a trauma patient, but was later released to police. The police corporal described the suspect as extremely intoxicated. He has been booked on suspicion of four counts of murder and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs causing great bodily injury or death. The investigation into the crash continues.

Sadly, four people lost their lives in an auto accident that appears to have happened due to the reckless actions of a driver. It seems likely that the investigation will reveal that the driver was at fault in the crash, and if this is the case, the families of the victims may consider pursuing the matter in California civil court. A skilled personal injury attorney can review the case details and discuss options for legal recourse.
