Hit-and-run car accidents can create havoc for those left behind

A tragic hit-and-run accident on a recent Thursday in November left a family in mourning and robbed a baby girl of the love of a father. Fatal car accidents, especially hit-and-run accidents leave so many unanswered questions in the minds of the bereaved family. This accident is no different.

According to reports, the 26-year-old victim, an ex-marine, was crossing a Californian roadway when he was hit by two vehicles. The first car to hit him was a classic car. Moments thereafter, he was hit by an SUV. His body was recovered blocks from where he was struck the first time. Both drivers left the accident scene.

The SUV driver was found and arrested later the same day. Police are still searching for the driver, who struck the deceased first. A good friend of the ex-marine has called on people moving in the classic car community to contact police if they can provided information on the owner of this very distinctive car.

The family of the deceased hit-and-run victim now has some difficult decisions to make, especially given the fact that a one-year-old little girl has been left without a father. Fortunately, Californian civil law allows for the families of car accidents to file wrongful death claims against alleged negligent drivers, should they so wish. A successfully litigated claim may result in an award of financial damages by a civil court, which can assist the family during an understandably difficult time. In this instance, it may even provide for the future of the little girl left fatherless.
