When a drunk driving accident occurs, the individuals affected may find damage to their vehicles and suffer injuries that impair them and require medical care with its resulting expenses. Car accidents may also lead to physical and emotional pain and suffering. As a result, it is often necessary to retain legal counsel as soon as possible to ensure that you can receive the compensation to which you may be entitled.
Police near Orange County recently responded to reports of a hit-and-run accident in which a suspected drunk driver rear-ended another vehicle, injuring two people. The suspect fled the scene and when police found and attempted to stop him, he failed to pull over.
The suspect was traveling at such high speeds that only a police helicopter continued to follow him. Ultimately, he caused four more car collisions, driving the wrong way in the case of the last accident and hitting two vehicles, one of which was an ambulance.
Police were eventually able to arrest him at the scene of the last collision and will be charging him with felony evading, felony hit-and-run with injuries, and driving under the influence of alcohol.
The other drivers or passengers who were hit by the negligent driver were evaluated, but police say no one was taken to hospital.
If you have been the victim in a hit-and-run, drunk driving, or other negligent car accident, it is always advisable to consult with a legal professional who can help you. The person responsible should be faced with liability for his or her actions, and you should receive compensation.
