Children injured in truck accident with school bus

In some situations, even the briefest moments of inattention or confusion have the potential to escalate into dangerous situations. This recently proved to be true in Fresno County where a collision between a tanker truck and a school bus full of children took place.

Although the drivers of both vehicles and the 20 children in the school bus were injured, all parties involved in the accident survived. The injuries sustained were at worst moderate, and all of the schoolchildren have since been released from the hospital. There was little other information immediately released regarding the extent of the children's injuries.

However, the tanker truck, which was transporting thousands of gallons of diesel fuel, created a serious hazard for other motorists. The intersection where the accident occurred was cleared for traffic only after cleanup crews spent several hours removing the fuel from the scene.

Not all of the details have yet been released, but the truck driver may have caused the accident by entering an intersection into the path of the oncoming bus, according to a news report. The truck driver, who had stopped at the intersection before proceeding into it, evidently believed that the school bus also had to stop when in fact it did not. The bus then hit the truck in the intersection.

Depending on the outcome of investigations into this crash, the families of the children harmed in the accident may be able to pursue legal action against the truck driver or the truck company.

Those involved in truck accidents would do well to discuss their situations with a personal injury attorney, who may be able to determine whether a claim exists.
