Amusement park rides: sometimes you really should be scared

One thing you can count on is that manufacturers of amusement park attractions, such as roller coasters and other rides that are meant to, safely, terrorize the riders will keep looking for ways to top what they have already done. The latest roller coasters are truly impressive in the speeds they can attain and the gravitational forces they can generate, all in the quest to provide a greater thrill.

When it comes to these kinds of rides, however, we should never forget two things: first, they are mechanical in nature, and machines often either breakdown or can be subject to faults in their design or build. Second, these machines are operated by humans, and human beings make mistakes. Either of these two things suddenly can lead to a situation in which the terror and the screams are based on more than just the sensation of physical jeopardy.

Amusement park rides can, and sometimes do result in injuries and fatalities. Lack of proper maintenance, designs that push the technological envelope too far, improperly trained or supervised personnel operating the rides, and even external considerations such as trespassers other people being where they should not be while the ride is in motion can all lead to accidents; these accidents can result in severe injuries when the ride is running at speeds that rival that of a car on a freeway, or when the ride is already subjecting its passengers to forces that can either slam them into something or even throw them off altogether.

Understanding how amusement park rides can occur, and how to properly ascertain responsibility for accidents when they happen, is something that the our law firm has years of experience with. If you have been injured on such a ride, or in the worst case if a loved one of yours has died as the result of such an accident, contact us for a free initial consultation.
